Beautiful isn’t quite the adjective one adds to a movie..I mean movies are brilliant, excellent, awesome etc. way too often but very rarely are they Beautiful... To date I’ve been able to assosciate this word with very few movies (and believe me there is no Harry Potter or LOTR movie in it)....Finding Nemo, Wall E, Cars etc. I never thought there wud be a movie that would make Beautiful seem less for it...but then there was AVATAR.....I mean what would u call something that is more that beautiful.. I don’t think there is a word in the Dictionary that could truly describe the beauty of the movie in words..One has to see the movie to feel the way I am feeling about....The story is no doubt very simple...just as it was in the case of Titanic...but never does one feel that its limited or something...It works more than well with the setting....In fact its the simple story that makes the movie all the more wonderful.....I mean at the core of the plot is the love of the native Na’vi for their home...PANDORA the lush moon of Polyphemus, one of three gas giants that orbit Alpha Centauri A, 4.3 light years from Earth....The humans are the bad guys here coz “ Na’vi people have got the shit they want and so they are the enemies”.....Simple American philosophy....There is a bit of romance,b/w Neytiri(Na’vi Priness) and Jake Sully(our hero) [frankly I found Neytiri quite cute especially her eyes....that was abit surprising to Adi, Ankit..everyone but well I am a bit eccentric I admit :P], a epic battle towards the end that just leaves you wondering “How is that possible?” but all this would be nothing without our real Hero...Pandora.....The world is everything....Its beauty, pious and ethereal....Something to be protected and revered....Obviously the humans don’t understand that and wage the war for unobtanium a rare mineral that would solve the global economic crisis back home which we have made sure is no longer green....Anyways talking about Pandora......as I said no word to describe it the way it really is.....and more beautiful than it is the love the Na’vi have for it...I mean its impossible not to fall in love with Pandora...There are so many colours of life there that spectrum seems way too limited to describe them....The Forest is their deity ‘Eywa’ from whom they “ hav taken everything and shall return it to her when they die” just as for our forefathers the Earth was ‘Gaia’......Gaia theory says something like that only frm what Prashant told me....Cameron has not made the Na’vi very different from what we once were......they love their home, are connected to everything around them...the trees, the animals... want to protect it at any cost...cry when the humans destroy it....will give up their lives fighting for it....sounds quite foolish of them...well atleast that’s what the humans in the movie think who don’t think twice before blowing their Hometree to ground...In fact its not very surprising too given what we are doing today...If we look closely we’ll see that Pandora is nothing but a modified xerox of Earth....Its forests quite similar the our own...the diversity of flora and fauna nowhere more than ours.....(It is another thing that its fictitious and more beautiful coz of that).....so where is the difference??? Its b/w us and the Na’vi...They have that connection with their world which we severed long time ago.....to them its a sacred thing....to us just a natural resource...As Jake says towards the end in a plea to Eywa “they destroyed everything back home and now they have come to do the same to you”..well it was something like that, can’t remember the exact lines....... Why is it so hard for us to understand that the nature is alive???..well not as explicitly as in Pandora but it still is(and not quite literally either).....Well in Pandora’s case Cameron has shown that all the trees and plants on Pandora have a a connection like the neurons in our body, thus forming a giant network.....that is I accept not the case here.....still why are we so limited to accept what the Na’vi feel for their world-that it is something to fight for, something to die for....as genuine....
to be contd. maybe.
I agree...b'ful.. :)
